What you will see on the Similan Islands

The Similans are a chain of numbered granite islands in the Andaman Sea, protected as a national park. During the day you snorkel around several of them, rest on powder-white beaches and walk up to the Sail Rock viewpoint on Island No. 8, the postcard shot of the whole archipelago. Lunch is served on Island No. 4, Koh Miang, where there is also time to swim and relax in the shade.

Why start from Khao Lak

Khao Lak is the nearest resort area to the park, so the road part of the day stays short. A minivan takes you from your Khao Lak hotel to Tap Lamu pier in roughly half an hour to an hour, depending on where you stay, and the speedboat crossing takes about an hour to an hour and a half. Breakfast is waiting at the pier, lunch on the island and dinner back on the mainland before the ride home.

Classic, Comfort or catamaran: how to choose

The classic Similan Islands trip is the straightforward option: speedboat, three snorkeling stops, mask and snorkel provided, fins available for rent. Similan Islands Comfort reorders the day, reaching Island No. 8 first, then snorkeling at Islands No. 9 and No. 7 and finishing with a long lunch break on Koh Miang; every guest gets a beach bag with mask, fins, towel and beach mat. The catamaran version follows the classic route order and already includes fins, beach towels and a disposable mouthpiece.

Practical tips

Pregnant travelers are not allowed on speedboats, so please mention a pregnancy when booking, otherwise boarding may be refused at the pier. Reef shoes are strongly recommended for rocky water entries and are not included. The park is seasonal and usually reopens in mid-October, and the program can change with the weather.

Every option includes a Russian-speaking guide, national park fees, insurance and unlimited water and soft drinks on board. Book through the GoGo Phuket manager in chat or WhatsApp and we will confirm the pickup window for your hotel.
