What you will see in Khao Sok
Cheow Lan Lake is a man-made reservoir created in 1982, and today it looks more like a tropical fjord: still water, sheer limestone karsts and dense forest rising straight from the shoreline. On a traditional longtail boat you head out across the lake to the famous Guilin rocks, then tie up at a floating restaurant for lunch. Afterwards there is free time to swim or take a canoe out on the calm water.
How the day flows
The Russian-speaking guide meets the group at Khok Kloi Bus Station early in the morning. The first stop is Samet Nangshe, reached by pickup truck, with a sweeping view over Phang Nga Bay. From there it is a longer drive inland to a lookout above Cheow Lan Lake and on to the pier, where the boat safari begins and lasts into the afternoon.
On the way back you visit Wat Bang Thong (Rama X), a temple considered one of the most beautiful in Phang Nga province, before returning to Khok Kloi and your hotel.
Getting there from Khao Lak
The tour itself runs from Khok Kloi Bus Station. You can make your own way there or add a transfer from any hotel in Khao Lak or Natai Beach; the transfer is charged once per booking, not per person, which is handy for families. Expect an early start, as pickups begin around six in the morning.
Who it suits and what to bring
The pace is relaxed, with no strenuous hiking, and the tour is marked as suitable during pregnancy. Bring swimwear if you want to swim or paddle, a hat and some cash for the Wat Bang Thong entrance fee, which is paid on site. Timings may shift at the guide's discretion. Book with the GoGo Phuket manager via chat or WhatsApp.
