What is in the program

The day opens with Wat Suwan Khuha, a cave temple where monkeys gather at the entrance — you can feed them and take photos — and a cave with stalactites, bats and a reclining Buddha. Next comes an ATV ride, then a safety briefing before the main event: a 5 km rafting run down a jungle river in inflatable rafts led by experienced instructors. The rafting is held after the dam is opened, which gives the river enough flow for a fun ride with a touch of adrenaline.

After lunch you choose on the spot between riding an elephant and bathing one, try the zipline and finish with a stop at one of the waterfalls of Phang Nga province before heading back to Phuket in the evening.

Program 1 or Program 2

The activities are the same in both; the difference is the group and the level of guiding. Program 1 is the budget option: the group can be mixed, with Russian- and English-speaking guests together, and one Russian-speaking guide may cover one or two minivans. The guide acts mainly as an escort and shares stories only when time allows.

Program 2 is for those who want a proper guided experience. The Russian-speaking guide rides in the same minivan as your group, the whole group is Russian-speaking, and the ATVs are more powerful 250 cc machines. If commentary and a more comfortable group matter to you, Program 2 is worth it.

Who this rafting tour suits

This is an active tour, best for travellers who enjoy some adrenaline, and it works for teenagers and school-age kids travelling with their parents. Elephant riding is not recommended during pregnancy, and rafting and ATVs are physically demanding, so pregnant travellers should consider a calmer program.

Tips

Wear quick-drying clothes and sandals with straps that will not come off in the water, and bring a change of clothes, sunscreen, insect repellent and a waterproof pouch for your phone. Keep some small change for the reclining Buddha temple entrance.
