What you do at the sanctuary
The elephants live in a jungle setting on Phuket, and every program is built around hands-on care rather than entertainment. Depending on the option you choose, you help make food for the herd, hand-feed bananas and treats, walk alongside the animals, watch or join the mud spa and see them cool off in a lake or under a rain-style shower. English-speaking staff explain what is happening and keep the group moving at a relaxed pace.
How the half day flows
You are collected from your hotel in the morning or around midday, depending on the slot. On arrival there is a welcome drink and a short briefing, then the time with the elephants begins. After feeding, walking and bathing you head back to the hotel, usually within three to six hours of pickup.
Choosing between the three programs
Care for Me is the most hands-on budget option: you cook treats for the elephants, walk with them, see the mud spa and bathe them in the lake. Lunch is not included, but you can pay extra on site to learn to cook your own pad thai with the Thai team. Transfers on this option cover Kata, Karon, Patong, Kalim, Kamala, Surin and Bang Tao.
Elephants in the Wild is a gentler, observation-focused visit of roughly three and a half hours. You feed the elephants, take photos with them in their natural surroundings, watch the bath and mud spa, learn how rubber is tapped on a plantation and finish with a Thai cooking demonstration and lunch. Photos and videos are part of the package.
The Half-Day Program is the fullest of the three. You help prepare natural supplements, feed the elephants, can join the mud spa if you like, swim with them and then rinse them off under the shower before a traditional Thai lunch with fruit. Photo and video coverage is included here as well.
Who it suits and what to bring
The sanctuary is listed as suitable during pregnancy, and all programs have child prices, so it works well for families. Wear clothes you do not mind getting muddy, bring a change of clothes and a towel if you plan to join the bathing, and pack sunscreen and insect repellent for the jungle. Book the morning slot if you prefer cooler temperatures.
