What the experience looks like

The ride takes place in the jungle of Phuket. A driver collects you from your hotel and brings you to the elephant camp, where you climb aboard and set off along a forest trail. After the ride there is time for photos with the elephant — staff are happy to take pictures on your own phone or camera if you ask. Then the car takes you back to your hotel, so the whole outing fits easily into a morning or afternoon.

Choosing the length of your ride

The basic option is a 30-minute ride — enough to enjoy the sway of the elephant and the jungle views. If you want a longer walk, choose 45 minutes. The third option combines a 30-minute ride with bathing the elephant, which is the most hands-on choice and a favourite for those who want to spend more time with the animal. Let our manager know which option you prefer when you book in chat or WhatsApp.

Transfer areas

Round-trip transfer is included from hotels in Kata, Karon, Patong, Tri Trang, Kalim, Kamala, Surin, Bang Tao and Laguna. An English-speaking guide and insurance are also part of the package. Food to feed the elephants is sold separately, as are souvenirs, tips and professional photos.

Who it suits and tips

The program is short and easy, which makes it convenient for families with children aged 4 and up and for travellers who only have a few free hours. Elephant riding is not recommended for pregnant women. Wear comfortable clothes you don't mind getting a bit dirty, and if you choose the bathing option, bring a change of clothes and a towel. Pickup times and the order of activities are approximate and may be adjusted by the guide on the day.
