What the day looks like
Pickup is early in the morning, followed by breakfast at the pier and a boat crossing of just under two hours to the national park. Once there, the day is built around the water: three snorkeling stops in different bays, with a chance to spot clownfish and other reef species, plus a long lunch break with free time on the beach. Dinner is served back at the pier before the drive to your hotel, and you are home in the evening.
How to choose a program
Surin + Hidden Beach starts snorkeling in the Mai Ngam Channel, then lands you on Mai Ngam Beach for a walk along a secluded stretch of sand about 500 meters long. The afternoon snorkel stops are in Suthep Bay North and Suthep Bay South.
Surin + Moken Village begins with snorkeling in the Chong Kad Channel and then visits the village of the Moken, the sea gypsies, where you can see how the community lives. The afternoon snorkel stops are Bon or Mae Yai Bay and then Pineapple or Turtle Bay.
Surin by Catamaran follows the same route as the Moken Village program but the crossing is made on a catamaran instead of a speedboat. It suits travelers who simply prefer that type of boat for the long run out to the park.
Who it suits and what to bring
The tour is made for swimmers and snorkel fans who are happy with a long day. Fins, masks with disposable mouthpieces and beach towels are provided, so pack swimwear, sunscreen, a hat and a change of clothes. Pregnant travelers are strictly not allowed on speedboats and must declare pregnancy when booking. The park is open roughly from mid-October to mid-May, and trips are closed until 15 October.
