Why stay the night on Racha
Most visitors see Racha Yai only between late morning and mid-afternoon, when the boats from Phuket are moored in the bays. On this Racha Island overnight trip you get the island in its best hours: Patok Bay is calm in the evening and early morning, the sunset can be watched from the same beach, and at dawn you have the bays almost to yourself.
How the two days flow
Day one starts with a transfer to Chalong Pier and a boat ride to Racha Yai, with a snorkeling stop in a nearby bay before landing. The guide takes you to your bungalow; check-in is around midday, and you can drop your bags earlier. After lunch with an island view, the afternoon is free — Siam Bay is a good choice because it is quiet at that time. Dinner is not included, so you pick any restaurant on the island.
On day two, catch the sunrise at Ter Bay, then enjoy Patok Bay before the crowds arrive. After breakfast at the hotel you check out, have lunch on your own and board the boat to Coral Island for a swim before returning to Chalong in the afternoon.
Choosing an option
Bungalow without air conditioning is the budget choice for travellers who do not mind a fan-free tropical night. Bungalow with air conditioning offers more comfort in the heat. Both options stay at Raya Resort in sea-view bungalows, about a 5–10 minute walk from the beach, and include breakfast and one lunch. Transfer with overnight (no accommodation) covers the boat, guide and first-day lunch, and suits you if you have already booked your own hotel on the island.
Tips
Pack light: a small bag with swimwear, a change of clothes, sunscreen, a flashlight and cash for dinner and lunch on day two. An extra bed and single occupancy cost extra. If you are pregnant, you must tell our manager when booking, otherwise boarding may be refused at the pier.
