Every James Bond Island tour from Phuket includes the stop at Khao Phing Kan, where The Man with the Golden Gun was filmed, with free time to photograph Koh Tapu rising from the water. Along the way you pass the geological formations of Koh Panak, paddle a canoe between cliffs and mangroves near Koh Talu or Koh Hong, and on most options have lunch in Koh Panyee, the oldest sea gypsy village in the bay, with its famous floating football pitch.
How to choose the option
Speedboat is the classic program: canoeing, lunch in Koh Panyee, James Bond Island, a cave (Diamond Cave or Ice Cream Cave) and a swim at Naka island. Cruise ship is slower and smoother, departs from Ao Po pier, serves lunch on board, includes canoeing at Hong island lagoon (subject to tide) and a swim near Lawa island; it is the option marked as suitable during pregnancy.
Catamaran early departure starts at dawn and reaches James Bond Island before the crowds, then continues with canoeing at Talu, lunch in Koh Panyee and beach time on Naka Yai and Rang Yai. Speedboat without early wake-up picks you up mid-morning and ends at sunset hours with extras: the Laem Haad sandbar on Koh Yao Yai, SUP and clear kayak, and time at a beach club with a water park. Hotel transfer covers all of Phuket, but a Russian-speaking guide works only on Mondays and Fridays; other days the guide speaks English.
Who it suits
The tour is fairly active because of the canoeing, yet the pace is manageable for families with children. If you are pregnant, tell our manager when booking and choose the cruise ship, which is the calmest ride.
Practical tips
Bring swimwear, a towel, sunscreen, a hat and a waterproof bag for your phone during canoeing. Canoe access to lagoons depends on the water level. On most options pickup from remote areas costs extra. Timing and stops are approximate and can change at the captain's discretion.
