How the Phuket–Phi Phi transfer works

The door-to-door version starts with a minivan pickup; the drive to the pier takes around 40 minutes. You check in at the pier and board either the ferry or a speedboat to Phi Phi Don. When you are ready to leave the island, you take the boat back to Phuket, where a minivan is waiting to bring you to your hotel. If you already have your own way to the pier, boat-only tickets are also available, one-way or return.

Ferry or speedboat: which to choose

The ferry is the relaxed option. The crossing takes about 1.5–2 hours, and the big plus is flexibility: the return date is open, so you can head back to Phuket on whichever day suits you. Hotel pickups are at 7:00 and 12:00, with ferries leaving Phuket at 8:30 and 13:30; from Phi Phi Don they depart at 09:00 and 14:30. The ferry is also the option suitable for pregnant travellers.

The speedboat gets you to the island in just 45–60 minutes and has more departures. Pickups are at 7:15, 9:15 and 11:15, boats leave the pier at 9:00, 11:00 and 13:00, and return trips from Phi Phi Don run at 10:00, 14:00 and 15:00. The trade-off is that your return date has to be booked in advance.

Tickets and timing

Both options come as one-way or return tickets, with or without the hotel minivan, and children aged 4–11 travel at a reduced rate. Whichever boat you take, check in at the pier at least 30 minutes before departure. Remember that on arrival at Phi Phi Don every visitor pays a small island entry fee, so keep some cash handy.
